Child Support

Stamford, Connecticut, Child Support Lawyer

In Connecticut, child support guidelines are based on the combined net income of both parents. The guidelines include a worksheet, making it fairly easy for a lawyer to calculate how much child support you are entitled to receive or obligated to pay if you and your spouse have average incomes. However, Connecticut child support guidelines only consider net income up to $2,500 per week. If you or your spouse earns more than the guideline amount, the court has discretion in determining the amount of child support.

At the Law Office of Yvette P. Fallon, a family law practice in Stamford, Connecticut, we explain the complexities of child support and help you meet your financial goals. In many of the divorce cases we handle, the marital net income is higher than the Connecticut guidelines. As a result, we help clients consider other factors to determine how much support is appropriate and take into account how much the noncustodial parent should pay the parent who has primary residential custody.

The support order should consider all major expenses for your children, including un-reimbursed medical costs, extracurricular activities, music lessons, private school tuition and tutoring. As a lawyer, Ms. Fallon is very detailed in creating a complete list of every possible expense to include in a child support
